Book Review: To Kill a Mockingbird

Genre: Fiction
Title: To Kill a Mockingbird
Author: Harper Lee
Rated: K+
ISBN: Can't see it 'cause my book's too old D:
Publisher: Warner Books
Number of pages: 281

Plotline: Scout and Jem Finch are the motherless children of one of Maycounty's most respected lawyers. As children, they do everything curious children would do; play all day, despise school, and bother Boo Radley, their neighbour who never comes out in the light of day.

When Atticus Finch becomes the defense lawyer for a Negro who is accused of raping a woman, Scout and Jem are pulled into an adult world of confusion and unfairness. But with the help of some friends and strangers, they just might be able to make it through it all unscathed.

Or not.

My take: Okay, okay, I admit it. I only read this book because of English class. It was so relieving to read normal English for a change after all that Charles Dickensian and Shakesperian stuff! I really enjoyed the book, and unlike most of the other things we have to read for English, can actually understand why this is a classic!

It's a typical white-against-black, Depression era book. Which makes you kind of depressed. So if you like those types of books, read it! And if you're not in high school yet, read it before so you don't have to do it during school time!
